I would like to create a transparent cast around an Assembly, since the Assembly will be coated with expoxy. Is there a better way than converting the assembly to a part, adding the cast and remove the part?
Do a "cavity feature". Very easy to do.
I hope this helps,
Could you upload a screenshot or a sketch of what you need??
It should look something like this. Here I just extruded the a cyclinder and changed the material to be see-through. But when I do a section view, it consider it as a whole volume and thus even shading
Make a copy of your original body, then use the copy to Combine-->Subtract to create what you need.
I did something very similar with this model:
You could try using the Intersect command. (But you will have to convert assy to part)
I have just been doing a cast cylinder head and trying to figure out waterways etc and found this produced a quick result.
I originally posted this here:
Trying to enclose a part with an external boundary layer
Try adding the part to a blank assembly, then run save as... part.
Then use the selection "External faces"
Then open the new part and thicken it outward.
Then add the new part to the original part using Insert ---> part.
You can even join the two bodies afterward.
See attached video.
