Hello
I would like to create a cavity from 2 objects. Object 1 is the mold (bloc) and Object 2 will have the shape of the cavity.
When object 1 and 2 are part files, it is easy. I am using the feature <<cavity>> in object 1 and select object 2 to create the cavity.
However, when object 2 is an assembly, I don't know how to do it. I have tried to save object 2 as a part file, but it is not working when I choose object 2.sldprt as the. The message is <<unable to create this feature because it would result in zero-thickness geometry>>. When I select an assembly in the cavity feature, it mentions that we can only choose part.
I have solidworks 2018 Professionnal.
Thank you for your help!
Linh-Chi, you should be able to do a cavity with an assembly just as you have with the separate 2 parts. The only difference being that you will need to select the individual components from the sub-assembly. Simply select the arrow on the sub-assembly and select the parts from the tree there.
