In most cases shrinkage value for plastic is 5%. If a part is going to shrink after molding what is the point to have Drafting?
You are wrong. There is no "most cases" with the vast selection of todays resins. I have even seen some materials that grow after ejection.
The idea is you are going to SCALE the part to accommodate for the shrink, so when it does shrink (post molding) you are providing the customer a product that matches their model dimensionally. Draft is purely for ease of ejection from the tool. It is entirely necessary on (almost)any molded component.
