How to replace main assembly.

I have a PCBA that was generated from CircuitWorks ( the PCBA is REV X10). It is the main assembly ( top of the feature tree ) of the file. I have added components to the assembly file such as heat-bars and fastening hardware to the file and generated exploded views and drawings for REV X10.

The PCBA has eveloved to REV X11 and I need to update the assembly file and the drawings. I would like to keep the exploded views and all of the drawing documentation.

Since REV X10 is the main assembly of the file, I cannot select and then replace the assembly.

Anyone know how to do this?

Just to make sure I understand, REV X10 is the first component inserted into an Assembly. You wish to replace it with a similar file named REV X11. If that's true, why can't you just right-click on REV X10 in the tree and select "Replace Component" from the drop-down?

  Yes, REV X10 is the first component, it is an assembly. In the snip 21-0030-05 REV X10 is the assembly i need to replace with it's next gen of 21-0030-06 REV X11. The drop down for that assembly is different from the drop down in your snip.

    I thought REV X10 was an Assembly that had been inserted into another Assembly. That doesn't appear to be the case. See if How can I create a new Assembly or Drawing similar to an existing one? will help. If it doesn't, and you've already created the assembly named REV X11 and want to update a drawing to reference it, then there are several methods. Probably the simplest is to right-click on a drawing view and choose "Replace Model" from the drop-down.
    
    If none of this helps, then please explain further.

    I don't know if this will help or not since it's still difficult to tell how your file is set up.
    
    If you have an assembly (for sake of example, we'll call it MAIN) that contains 21-0030-05 REVX11 as the first item, then the following method may work. First, try highlighting in the tree and navigating to File -> Replace. If this isn't available, then I'm not sure how else to help without knowing more about what you're trying to do.
    
    Another method to do the same thing:
    In the File -> Open dialog, you can change references of certain items. This is similar to the right-click and replace method. Highlight the file you want to open and then click on references before you click Open. Navigate to the assembly you want to replace and then double-click it. Browse to the new
    
    As Glenn stated, if none of this helps then please explain in more detail.

Have you tried 'save as copy and open', renaming the file to Rev x11? Then you should be able to replace the PCB component (assuming all the parts locate to the exact same place). I noticed that all your components seem to be loaded in lightweight mode so it might not work.

one option that might work would be to select everything that you did not add, right click, and select "form new subassembly". then replace that sub assembly with rev 11 (and maybe keep it as a subassembly so it is ready for rev 12).

  Looking at this from an opposite direction, you could instead Form New Subassembly upon all the items that were added, then save that subassembly as a file, then add that subassembly to the new Rev X11 assembly.
  
  To choose which way to proceed, I'd choose whichever is simpler or requires less re-attachment to adapt to.
