I am trying to model a simple linkage group (made from aluminum) that mimics simple shoulder movement in one plane, as seen in the attached picture. But I want the rotating arm to be stable at any angle while rotating. Does anyone know the pin/fastener/whatever that allows for rotation? Also, am I correct in saying a tight tolerance between the fastener/pin and the arm will produce the stability while the arm rotates?
Something I can relate it to the real world are the legs of a tripod, when you collapse or open the legs. The legs rotate smoothly but are stiff/stable when rotating.
