Anyone care to share some tips and tricks regarding rendering clear plastics (acrylic/lexan sheets)?

I'm currently using "Polycarbonate" Subsurface appearance made by someone on the forum. It works well for most of my applications but in some cases it reflects too much of the surrounding parts and environment, making it look dark and not clear.

Are there any tricks to reduce the reflection of other parts/environment on clear appearances? I've tried playing around with 'Scattering', IOR, and 'Roughness'.

Or recommendations of different appearance types?
