I created a 20-25 assembly and saved it. The next time I attempted to open it I would get a persistent " not responding message. How can I troubleshoot what is causing SW'17 not to respond.
See if I got an error message when I tried to open a SW file. will help.
The error message is from Windows, not Solidworks. If you wait it out, does the assembly open? Usually, the 'not responding' error is due to Windows' impatience and the model will open if you wait long enough.
1) Close Solidworks, reboot machine and try to open it again
If that works...then viola!
If that doesn't work then:
2)Open the assembly lightweight (from the File-->Open Screen):
If that works, then resolve each component one by one until you run into the issue again. Then you probably have your culprit. If you haven't found the issue, then save it and re-open it normally and see if it goes away.
If that doesn't work:
3) Go back to File-Open, select the assembly and select the configurations drop down and select <Advanced>and then click Open
That brings you to this screen:
Select "New Configuration showing assembly structure only"
This loads the assembly with everything suppressed.
Now you can unsuppress each component one by one until you have an issue. And then you have found your culprit.
If that still doesn't work........
Then its time to call your VAR.
