why does solidworks add Sheet1 to the end of your drawing number when printing to pdf? also, is there a way to make it stop?
First of all, this is the name of the sheet for that drawing. Rename the sheet and it will rename the suffix:
But in my opinion.....you should Save it as a PDF instead. I find that there are much better results:

How can I fix a poor quality PDF saved from a SolidWorks Drawing?
first of all, i'm not an idiot and know thats the sheet number. second of all, its dumb that it even adds it. third of all, printing do pdf gets the same quality results if you change your quality settings. please someone help me without being a captain obvious.
I never insinuated that you were and idiot. I wasn't sure that if you knew where the Sheet1 was coming from or not. Have you seen some of the other questions on this forum? The Skill range is very large. I wasn't sure where you stood in that regard and was gambling on the lowest end. I apologize if any of that was taken as insulting. I did not mean it that way.
I generally never print to PDF, but I did look through the settings. I don't see any type of setting.....so it looks like the only answer I can give you is, "I don't know."
I still recommend Saving to PDF rather than printing to PDF. It still seems to be less steps and requires less setting hassle.

I use this very useful feature. I name sheets by format size, A4, A3 and so on. When I print to pdf, SW adds this suffix automatically and this helps me a lot to combine all pdf files according to format size and print them at once later.
SW2018.3 losts this behavior for derived parts, I don`t know the reason.
Unfortunately, there are no settings for this and for many other things like
Is there any way to change delimiter between file name and cut-list item name
Save bodies command in weldment part assigns names to files in absolutely another manner (without parent file name).
Maybe Kevin Chandler has an AutoHotKey script for your situation...
I'm running SW2018 sp2 and when I print to PDF, the file name box is blank.
Since I save as PDF, I don't have a PDF print driver other than the MS one included with Windows 10.
So, perhaps, this issue is a function of the particular PDF driver you're using and perhaps also, it's a configurable setting within the driver.
I didn't see any such setting in SW's print dialog with the MS driver selected.
J, you are getting this from a File->Save As not a File-->Print to file correct?
