Is it possible to run the SolidWorks CAM NC Editor as a stand alone program at another computer? I am programming from my SolidWorks models here at my desk but the Onsrud Router is on the other side of the building. Currently we are using AlphaCAM to open the G-Code and then port it to the Onsrud. I would like the operator to be able to use the SolidWorks CAM NC Editor at his terminal.

The SOLIDWORKS NC Editor is tied to the SOLIDWORKS CAD seat today. This means it needs to reside on the same machine as SOLIDWORKS for licensing. The NC editor is licensed from CIMCO and they have versions that can be used on stand alone computers. The interface and technology are the same with CIMCO edit.

I was hoping that this could be used as I am not looking to purchase more software to manage my machine files. I would hope that SolidWorks would take a close look at finding a way to extend an additional license to those already using their software. If you think about it, most companies aren't doing design work at their CNC machines. The engineering / design people are doing that portion of the job from the front office, writing the programs and then posting the g-code to a network location.

Running the software on any machine that Solidworks isn't licensed obviously violates the license agreement.
In order to create a shortcut for NCEditor you'd need to pass the parameters. This will run nceditor without Solidworks needing to be open to deploy which is more convenient on resources if its all you need.
"C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS CAM\NCEditor\solidworkscamnceditor.exe" /oemkey #youroemkey# /lang=en-US
You'd have to use a process explorer to get the oemkey tied specifically to your license.
