Please explain the solid to sheet metal conversion .
Hi Vijay I believe the problem is that you're trying to convert an imported part and make it sheet metal. Not sure I've seen this before. The part is simple enough why not model it in sheet metal from scratch using this import as an example. Sorry that's the best advice I can offer. I tried recognizing the part in SWx but it couldn't process it any further. Best of luck.
Not rally sure what you are asking.
I opened the step part and ran feature diagnostics on it. I then ran the convert to sheetmetal tool. I selected the bottom of the middle of the part as the fixed face and selected collect all bends. that gave me the formed part as a sheetmetal part. To test everything I unfolded the part to see the flat pattern and then refolded it.
What are you asking for? I do see in your SW part there is an additional ear in the bracket that has been removed. Is that your problem? since it is on the surface of the bracket and not part of the bracket that would cause problems as the material would not be of a single thickness.

Jim,.. I opened/edited Vijay Gowda *.sldprt file and saw there were errors in the body... so, yeah, if you imported the STEP and had options set for auto heal.. it would have been pre-healed.
Yeah mine didn't come with any errors it just wouldn't let me recognize it nor would it allow me to unbend it.
The geometry in the STEP file was not modeled correctly for a sheet metal part.
The cut edges should be parallel to the flat in flat pattern state and perpendicular in the folded state.
Well, I wrote that wrong. In the Flat Pattern the edges should be perpendicular to the flat. In the folded state these edges will follow the bends as shown.
Easy enough to fix.
Also - I measured a slight variation between thickness of parallel faces.
One side was 3.2mm while the other two were not exactly 3.2mm?
It would be interesting to see the original file.
This is the way I would approach this Vijay.. By doing it like this you will get a decent bend radius (that you can change if you like), clean (not split and correct size holes?) and an origin where it makes more sense. The issue with the file you have is that the bend radii is wacky.

This is a SolidWorks file part file that has been zipped. There is no option to attach it in the forum without it being zipped. Are you unable to unzip it?? Try dragging it from the post to right onto this screen of your SW2017.
