I bought the software over the Internet late Thursday evening and it is being shipped by ground. I need to work on a project over the weekend. Can I download it? If so how is it done?
You can go to the Customer Portal and log in. That will allow you to get downloads. However, if you've only recently gotten on subscription through a VAR you might not be in the system yet.

This might sound stupid but I'm getting a feel that you might have been sold a pirated version. Did you bought it from a SOLIDWORKS reseller or someone over Internet for just few $$?
I was thinking the same thing. If purchased though an official re-seller, they most likely would have given you instructions on how to login to Solidworks subscription services site and then you could download everything you need.
Deepak Gupta and Andy Sanders made a good point. If they're right, and you didn't buy through a VAR, see if you can get your money back, because I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use it even if you do get it installed.
Yes, I bought a legitimate copy of Solidworks and was hoping that I could download a copy from the Internet so I could work on a project over the weekend. My disk is supposed to arrive tomorrow, so now it is a moot point.
Thanks for the replies,
You still should be able to get established with a login on Solidworks.com subscription services and download it today.
You'll want to do this anyway so you can get Service Packs and other info.
Robert,.. every VAR is different, and your VAR "may" have the service pack online for you to download, just ask them?
..otherwise,.. this question comes up a few times per year,.. here are the responses/sites to download..

What is the url for the internet website where you purchased SolidWorks?
You should download the latest version - not use the CD that the VAR will send you.
The reason I say this is because the CD's the VAR's get are the initial release (SP0).
You want the latest and greatest installed.
Be sure to use the download option that downloads ALL the files - there are many "Prerequisites" that are needed for it to run properly and your computer may not have them installed.
Also, it is best to do a full download and after it is done THEN do the install from that - Do Not do the "download and install" because it can be slower and you will not have a copy on your system if something does go wrong - then you would have to download again.
The VAR should have gotten you setup in 1 day - it they do not yet have your serial number assigned you should push them - it should only take them a very short time to get you a serial number and get you signed up and then you can create a sign-in to My.Solidworks.com and do the download.
Thanks Rick for your advice. I will follow it.
