I'm modelling components and one of the common aluminium grades here in the UK is 6082-T6. Unfortunately I can not find this in the Materials database.
In addition I do not know how to add a custom material and having searched several posts here none have been of use.
I've even followed a link to add an external database but the instructions are not relevant to SolidWorks 2018's file structure.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Ian
Assuming you know what the correct material properties are of the material you want to use I would start by finding a similar material that currently exists. When you are applying a material and have a list of all the current materials, find the similar material, right click it and select copy.
Scroll down near the bottom of the page, right click and create a "new library" (call Custom Materials) which should be a blue folder near the bottom. Right click that and create a "new Category" (say call that custom aluminium). Right click that and paste your copied material. You can then edit the material properties to what is required and change the name to what you require.
Someone online may have already created the exact properties for your material and if they have they could copy out the library and you could import that but assuming you can't get a copy from someone then editing a similar material and editing the properties is likely the easiest method.
Hope that helps.
