Can't sweep around edge of part. Zero Thickness Geometry Error

Hi all,

I've been fighting this for hours/days and I'm beyond frustrated. Essentially, the sweep can't make it around the shape while keeping the profile normal to the part as it follows the path. I've tried offsetting the path inward and onto the surface to give me an inside rail to follow, but that path seems to break itself and it throws another error as it can't follow it around. I've tried fixing the gaps it can't complete, but to no avail. I've attached the file for you to view.

I've also tried extending the profile down into the part, but the sweep ends up not being normal(read perpendicular) to the surface its riding on.

I'm sure it has everything to do with the base shape, I just don't know of any other way to create that shape.

As a professional, it sucks to tell the customer I need more time. But i have no other choice until I figure this out. So, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
