Hi Robert,
Just trying to diagnose this a bit... if you unmaximize your SolidWorks window, or resize the SolidWorks window by dragging the window edge, does it fix the issues?
You could also try dragging one of the CommandMgr tabs to force the toolbar to undock itself. Once it is undocked, you can double-click its titlebar to redock it. Does that make the problem go away?
Best Regards,
John
No to either. Looks like this only happens in the Edit part mode. I have also seen this before and watch it grow - meaning showed up 2 times then 3 then 4 etc... I am showing 6 right now and I can't even see the actual tool bar anymore without hitting the arrows to show more.
undocked the command manager
re-docked the command manager.
Hi Robert,
Sorry... one more test. Can you interact with the duplicated buttons to the right or are they just "ghost images" and unclickable?
Thanks,
John
Hi Robert,
My guess is there is a problem in the registry and/or our code. I've asked around a bit and we don't have any examples of this type of issue so I'd like to ask if you could make a copy of your registry with the "Copy Settings Wizard" tool and attach it to this post so we could take a look.
In addition to your registry, are there any specific steps you follow that makes it happen? Does it go away when you restart SolidWorks, etc.?
Thanks,
John
Here is the settings as requested. No it doesn't go away with anything. We just upgraded to SW 2018 about a week ago and it's been there since (Our press brake software is just NOW accepting 2018 files). I could reset my SW settings and I'm sure it might go away. I think that is what we did before. I was hoping to not do that. We also use SigmaTUBE as an add-on which runs directly within SW. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it (however the menu is broken even without loading the add-ins). Thank you for your help.
Rob

Hi Robert,
I can reproduce the problem using your registry. We will open an SPR internally and try to see if we can update our code to avoid the problem and also understand how we may have gotten into this state.
For your sake, the registry key containing the bad information is related to the "Edit Part in Context" mode. You can fix the problem locally using the attached "Copy Settings Wizard" registry file. Double-click it to run the "Copy Settings Wizard" and restore the repaired toolbar settings I've put in place.
Thanks for your help in debugging!
Best Regards,
John
Updated: I've attached a new "Copy Settings Wizard" file that can be used by anyone as it ONLY contains the fixed reg key and not all of Robert's custom UI setup.
Hi Rob,
Glad to hear that worked for you. If anyone else is seeing this toolbar issue when editing part in context of an assembly, the workaround I give above should fix the problem. We are investigating how the registry might have gotten into this bad state and how to avoid the bad behavior under SPR 1097041. If you contact your reseller, you can attach yourself to this SPR and you will get auto-notified when a fix is found.
Thanks again,
John
Hi John,
Just wanted to add that I thought this was a terrific piece of direct aid and assistance!
Dave.
John,
I just wanted to give a follow up. We had a power outage again last night (Happens quite often here). Although our system has a battery backup and so does my computer my issue with Sigmatube crashing is back. I can't help to wonder if the registry is corrupt again. You guys were wondering what might be corrupting the registry. Just thought I would let you know.
Thank you,
Rob
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to follow up with our progress on SPR 1097041. We have added code that should avoid the UI problem seen in the CommandMgr for this invalid registry condition. This solution is available in SW2019 SP0 and will be available in SW2018 sp5 once it is released in a few weeks.
Thanks again for everyone's feedback on this.
Best Regards,
John
Edited: For those of you seeing the problem and on older versions, please see my July 25th post above with the registry repair file.

Just to chime in - I have seen this before on my computer. I would only get a second set of toolbars, but I never really tried to get more to appear. I figured it was a weird anomaly and rolled with it for a while. I was having some other issues with the Property Tab Builder, so I completely formatted my computer. After re-installing Win 10 and SWX19 Beta1, everything worked great.
I believe that everyone here is pointing you in the right direction - there is probably something deep in the registry.
Hello Robert,
Clearly some registries are corrupted there. If your SOLIDWORKS used to work fine and recently became like this, try resetting your SW windows registries. See this link for step by step guide. It is much easier in doing than explaining:

Please don't do this until you save out your registry settings first so we can try to troubleshoot what might be wrong and perhaps prevent it in the future. Please see John Sweeney's post about saving out the registry and posting it.
Thanks,
Jim
