A curve like solid is cut by using Surface Cut command. Boundary-Surface gives correct result whereas Surface-Loft gives an error message. What is the reason for that?

What will be the use of Loft surface?

Hello Maha,.. for this,.. they are very close to the same.. although Boundary works better for this Surface Cut.. you can get the Loft to cut if you Extend (~1mm) or Untrim (0-10%) the outer edges a tad.
Boundary, for all intensive purposes is a replacement for the Loft Feature. The Loft Feature remains for legacy purposes. Boundary is a different algorithm than Loft. Loft, internally is a glorified sweep (creating unseen by the user - multiple loft sections) and therefore, the guide curves are approximate representations of actually specified geometry. Also Loft has bias; the guides take prescent over the guides. With Boundary, the 1st direction curves (profiles) and 2nd direction curves (Guides) have equal influence, therefore it is more accurate in a sense than Loft. Because of these differences in rare instances, Loft gives a better solution, but overall Boundary is more powerful and accurate with more features: can have control points in both directions loft cannot, C2 in both directions - Loft cannot. One thing that Loft can do that boundary cannot is Centerline Loft.
It seems very fine differences between these two. Therefore it is safe to choose Boundary-Surface instead of Surface-Loft.
