currently trying to run a simulation on ANSYS on this model however I can't wrap my head around how to export the right face of the model as a 2D and not 3D.
Could someone please help me,
Drawings are 2D.
Make a drawing that has the right face of the model as the only view on the drawing...export the drawing.
I have tried that and have saved the file as .dwg and .dxf but it doesn't work on ANSYS.
You can create drawing form model as you need and save as .dxf or .dwg for 2d drawing.
I am not sure but may be this will help.
I have tried exporting it as a .dxf and .dwg however when I then try to import them into ANSYS, the geometry doesn't generate and I get an error.
Here is an similar issue. Please check it.
I'm curious why you want a 2D drawing in ANSYS?
Will be doing a 2D and 3D simulation and showing the discrepancies between them and limitations
Is this what you are looking for?
Basically, I just added the part to an assembly, created a 2nd part, added a plane along the center of the part, then created intersections curves of the part. Then saved it out as an IGES file (making sure to export sketch entities as well).
Yes that's the one, including the wheel! However I have just tried to import it into ANSYS and I'm getting an error message unfortunately
I suspect that you may need to make a 2D planer surface that is the shape/outline of the right-side view of the part, then export only that surface and import it into ANSYS.
Would like to update you, after researching the error code that I keep getting on ANSYS I have found out that its because the 2D is not in the XY plane but in the ZY plane (as explained here https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ansys-meshing/170193-no-valid-body-found-error.html), I was wondering if you could upload a XY plane 2D for me please!
Thank you and sorry for all the hassle, you're a star!
Here you go. See if this works for you.
