Not getting totally transparent background (problem with shadows)

When rendering an image I selected the background as "None", but left the Shadows and Reflections on the ground selected, and saved it as a PNG. The background in general is transparent, but instead of getting a normal shadow on the ground, when I put the picture over a colored background I see that I got a kind of white haze looking shadow that makes the picture look framed. The picture I got is the one on the left, and what I'm looking for is something like the one on the right.
