PW 2009 Instability

I was wondering if I'm alone in my suffering - has anyone else been crashing PW2009 alot, specifically when saving a rendering - sometimes when saving the preview image, but most times when rendering to file? It's not all the time, but it seems like over 50%. The crashes can occur in the following ways:

1) Hit the save (to file) button and SW disappears - no error message no nothing.
2) More frequently, when rendering to file, I switch file types from .bmp (seems to be default) to jpeg, and SW crashes.

Again, it's not all the time, but it seems to happen more often than not. I'm running 64bit SW2009sp2.0 on Vista (I know what you're thinking: "THERE'S your problem!), 8GB RAM, and approved card (nvidia quadro fx570 - not the fastest but should be stable).

Another annoying thing I'm noticing is that SW is not saving all my materials on one file in particular (background that I built and copies of it I hve made). I have tried normal save, I have tried turning on "save materials in SW file", and one wall and the floor always lose their material (custom materials in a custom library on a local drive) and default to the default plastic so I have to add it again.
I'm wrapping up a big rendering project now and will submit a SR to SW when I'm done, but in the meantime I figured I'd poll the peanut gallery.
