Are you using PDM?
No, we are not using PDM.
The toolbox is shared though, correct?
There is a copy of the toolbox on our network. Some users setup Solidworks to use the toolbox on the network, others put a copy on their local drive and setup Solidworks to us the local copy. Rippling the change out to all users isn't the issue/problem...that will be fairly easy. The problem is figuring out how to create an entirely new name/type of counterbored hole. Populating it with the various sizes I already know how to do (I've done it before...many moons ago).
Doug Seibel - There is a lot of stuff on the forum and one suggestion I have is download the excel file and go to the Hole Wizard Section and use the Excel Find, type in "New" and you'll get a lot of returns, the bad news is you need to weed through them, but there is a lot of information there..

Is it possible to create a new hole type in Hole Wizard?
Currently, for "Counterbore Holes" we have the following types:
I am wanting to add a new type of counterbore hole..."Waterline"
Then, within that type, I want to create the different sizes...based on the size DME Jiffy-Tite connector they would be for:
This new "type" of counterbore hole will then come in extremely useful when creating advanced holes and advanced hole favorites for counterbored waterlines on injection molds.
So...I know what I want...
But I can't figure out how to create a new "type" or rename one or anything like that. I can copy an entire "standard", but I can't figure out or find anything on how the heck to rename a type or create a new type with a new name.
I was looking into this a couple of years ago and went a different route. I went in and created a library feature for our jack bolt hoes for our dies and molds. Usually these consist of a dowel, a thread ,a counterbore, and a spotface.
Since I knew we had common sizes we would be using I played around a little with the library feature and got it to work pretty slick. Now I can sketch my layout put 1 hole in and use sketch pattern to apply the rest. It sounds like your waterline holes will be static once you have the variants you require.
It is possible to create a new hole type but take it from someone who has, I do not recommend it. If you could add your sizes to an existing type that would be better.
Why you ask?
- Not supported by SolidWorks
- May not work when you upgrade to next version of SW (meaning you will need to re-do from scratch).
I had a feeling that was going to be the case. It is unfortunate that Solidworks has not made a Hole Wizard "Hole Builder" along the lines of what they did when they came out with the "Property Tab Builder", especially now that they have the Advanced Hole Wizard.
