Good morning Solidworks Users,
I'm a design engineer working for a manufacturing firm and we are using solidworks for quite a few years and right now there is an issue. Whenever i start solidworks 2013 application through the shortcut on the desktop it leaves a pop up dialog box named user control account and it saying do you want to allow this program to make changes to this computer and the program name is SWSP manager.
Only if i allow this program only the solidworks is launching. I need to know why this is happening.
Suggestions are welcome.
Regards
Sreenath
Hi Sreenath,
If your installation was done by administrative image, then the shortcut on the desktop will attempt to automatically update your installation. This is done by a separate exe called swspmanager.exe which detects if the administrative image has been updated since the last time SOLIDWORKS was started. This update would require UAC/administrative permissions which is you are seeing the prompt.
If you do not want that behavior, you can make your own shortcut to launch SOLIDWORKS.
Find sldworks.exe in the install directory. Right-click>Create shortcut.
Copy that shortcut to your desktop.
This is a simple shortcut that won't launch swspmanager which is trying to update your installation.
