I keep seeing discussion about optimizing lattice structures through FEA. How do you do this? I can't how to do this within the program. Do you have to save and export back into solidworks?
Yes, Optimizing lattice structures through FEA is available for 3DXpert SOLIDWORKS.
This function uses FEA Analysis to optimize your lattice structure based on the actual working conditions of the part.
This feature is not included in your Standard package, but you can enable it if you purchase Add-on 2: Advanced Lattice Optimization. For more information on the ADD ONs and the Professional package, see the 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS Compare page.
To purchase this Add-ON or the others, contact your SOLIDWORKS VAR.
The 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS Team
Adding info per the last question:
Lattice FEA works within 3DXpert for SOLIDWORKS, so the result is a lattice structure that can be exported to mesh or CLI formats (see other thread on export to mesh).
Thanks. I'm just confused, as you can evaluate the advanced lattice structures, but I can't evaluate FEA optimization? Not sure how one is supposed to determine if this software is value added.
Sure, you can evaluate also FEA Optimization.
Yet, unlike the advanced lattice evaluation features, FEA Optimization is activated by a license.
You can get a one month evaluation license free of charge. Contact your SOLIDWORKS VAR and ask for the evaluation license.
