Re: changing line colors within a sketch?
John Stoltzfus Jun 21, 2018 5:57 PM (in response to Jim Steinmeyer)You can color individual sketches, but I don't think you could do different line colors inside a sketch

Thank you

Dan Pihlaja Jun 22, 2018 8:20 AM (in response to Ned Hutchinson)Good find Ned!
The only thing is that it changes the colors while you are inside the sketch, but as soon as you exit the sketch, the color reverts to the default sketch color until you are editing the sketch again. Hrmm.
You might end up having to create 1 master sketch and then convert entities to create separate sketch to keep the separate areas different colors.

Re: changing line colors within a sketch?
Jim Steinmeyer Jun 22, 2018 8:57 AM (in response to Dan Pihlaja)No, for me that changes ALL lines within the sketch.
Notice how Ned's clip shows the paint bucket on the left of the icon and mine doesn't.
OK, what happened? While this was open I tried it again and it did work, just the selected lines changed. I tired this yesterday thinking that would work and it changed everything. I'm not drinking, honest..
I need a weekend.
But you are right once I leave the sketch the colors revert to the grey which defeats the purpose as I was hoping to be able keep track of the different lines in the overall assembly. More investigation is needed.

Re: changing line colors within a sketch?
Glenn Schroeder Jun 22, 2018 9:05 AM (in response to Jim Steinmeyer)I believe you're right. You can have selected sketch elements a different color, but as far as I can tell that only applies while the sketch is active. For inactive sketches you can only change the color of the whole sketch.

Jim, how many different colors do you need? If it is only a few them making a master sketch and then making several separate sketches where only one line from the master is converted and colored might be a good way to go.
What you really want, the ability to color individual sketch lines and retain the color visibility when the sketch is closed, sounds like a good idea to submit as an ER.

I think I will look into that when I have time.
I am currently coloring the lines in the sketch and that accomplishes most of what I need. I then come back and create a new assembly in the parent assembly where I use the sketch to create a virtual part for the hose and I add the hose ends.
