I prefer to dimension to lines, assuming I want the dimension to be perpendicular to the line. There's less chance of error that way.
its stuck to the midpoint?
Here I'm about to pull a smart dimension (the screenshot will not pick up the cursor) but I have a yellow mid point relation icon already. So is this a problem and how to I fix it ? Why I have the relation is a mystery to me.
delete the relation it prob auto snaped there when you sketch the line,
then you should be able to adjust dimension
Keep in mind that, in sketch mode, if you hover over a line for more than a second the midpoint snap will come up and if you then select the line you will be selecting the midpoint.
I'm not certain I understand the issue, but if it's about the sketch becoming over-defined and showing errors when you add the dimension, then that's easy to fix. Make the selection shown below at Tools > Options > System Options. With that selection turned on then when you insert a dimension on entities that are already defined the dimension will be just what it says; they'll be driven by default instead of driving.
Well Glenn, the problem I was having: I'm trying to pull a dimen from the line to the orgin point. I'm thinking the problem was I was pulling from the end of the line instead of the line itself ?
So it didn't work ?
I'm guessing this was the problem. Since I repulled from the line, now it works.
Is this true that pulling from the end of line can cause problems ?
What is your opinion on this ?
So better the line then the end ?
