Hi,
In Solidworks 2016 I'm designing a cube enclosure with 40x40mm aluminium extrusion.
I'm going to place a 40x40mm corner cube in each corner to join the profile lengths, like this: https://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_ID=195
Is there any way in weldments to reduce each extruded length by 40mm from each end? I can offset one length using a butt corner and entering a gap1 value. I can offset both using a miter corner and gap1 value, but this still leaves a mitered edge.
I presume Gap2 value will sort this out, but it's greyed out and I can't find any way to select it.
Any idea how to tackle this?
Did you create this as a weldment? If yes, you can use the Trim/Extend tool, selecting a face.
Repeat the process to cut the other bodies. In your case you'd need to repeat three times to get the cube cut-out.
