I'm putting a bridge into solidworks and when I try to run a
physical simulation the bridge collapses into the concrete
abutments and everything else falls apart as if I hadn't mated it,
even though I did. Please take a look at the attached files below.
Download the zip but you only need to open the assembly called
superbridge.SLDASM.
Are you really using physical simulation with this model? What is your goal in trying to use this for a bridge? If you are looking at understanding forces or stress, then you need to use COSMOSWorks (in 2008 and prior)/SolidWorks Simulation (in 2009 and onwards). If you want to just animate the assembly/construction sequence, then use animator.
As Bill mentioned, you will need to set up contacts to define how the bodies touch in that environment.

Probably the best approach is using just animation. Suppress all mates, and drag parts to different locations and orientations at different times to simulate them explosion.
There are others on the forum more well versed then I at using animator to do some really cool things, but I think what you want to do is not trivial.
