You can create what you require separately and the use Combine>Subtraction to remove material.
But as I posted above, some more data would be most helpful.

Yeah thanks for the feedback. Pretty much what Lenny said :/ I am aware of the subtraction feature, but what I was trying to do is nest a lattice pattern I made into a vertebrae (pattern would fill up and conform to the shape of the vertebrae). I can image doing it I in a subtraction method, but it would be much more time consuming than an automatic fill option. Thank for the help anyways!

If you really need it created in SolidWorks features, I have seen work some work with macros that can work with XYZ coordinates either created internally or externally, and place an object at each coordinate. This would make a very complex, "heavy" object that would be very difficult to work with.
