Say I want to fill a bone model with a spherical revolved cut pattern?
Can you post some images of what you wish to do?
You can create what you require separately and the use Combine>Subtraction to remove material.
But as I posted above, some more data would be most helpful.
think he's looking for more of a 3D nesting, automated, sure you can do things to get the 3D bodies into the other body but not like the fill pattern does.
Yeah thanks for the feedback. Pretty much what Lenny said :/ I am aware of the subtraction feature, but what I was trying to do is nest a lattice pattern I made into a vertebrae (pattern would fill up and conform to the shape of the vertebrae). I can image doing it I in a subtraction method, but it would be much more time consuming than an automatic fill option. Thank for the help anyways!
How do you intend to use this?
There are a number of existing apps that do this for 3D printing such as:
About Selective Space Structures | Netfabb | Autodesk Knowledge Network
If you really need it created in SolidWorks features, I have seen work some work with macros that can work with XYZ coordinates either created internally or externally, and place an object at each coordinate. This would make a very complex, "heavy" object that would be very difficult to work with.
