Mate needs to change direction in different configs

Hi all:

I have an assembly with two configurations. Two components are mated with a distance mate. The distance and direction of the mate must change bewteen the two configurations. I know how to set the distance value to be different in each configuration, but can't figure out how to switch the direction.

Right now, I work around it by using two different mates, with only one resolved per configuration. What am I missing?

You're not missing anything, you can't flip directions between configurations. The best idea is two different mates or a distance mating to a position holder object that is very far away from your object.

  You can flip mate allignment in each configuration, but not direction- at least as far as I know; I heard a presentation from SW world on configs, and there were a lot of features that I didn't know were configurable.

      I'm not so sure you can. I think the presentation he refers to is Justin's and I was there also. I just looked at my notes and I don't see that one recorded. Maybe I missed it, but I think I would have hooked onto that one because it sounds like something I would not have guessed at.

        I can not find any reference to this but sure could use it.
        I've got some fixings that need to be changed for handed components and it's just a case of flipping the alignment.
