I am a newbie in Solid-works, so please help me with this simple problem
I was trying to projecting curves on a curved surface but it showed sum error about open/closed profile.
What is open/closed profile and how can I project these circles on the surface?
Thank you.
Assuming you want to use your sketch to add or remove material on the cylindrical surface you can use the Wrap feature.
I don't know what you were trying to do when you got the error, but open profile refers to just what it says: a series of sketched lines, arcs, etc., that don't enclose a single volume (such as an incomplete circle, or three sides of a rectangle). A closed profile does. I suspect the message you got was asking you to select which of the multiple closed profiles in your sketch you wanted to use for the chosen feature. And I know you said you're a newbie, so I thought I'd point that I can't imagine any reason to create Plane 1 coincident with the Top Plane. You could have just used the Top Plane for the sketch.
Does this help?
