Sort your Memory tab by Commit or Working to see the highest-use culprits. One thing that stands out immediately to me is that Explorer is sucking up almost as much memory as SolidWorks---not good. You mentioned the Dell Precision Laptop. What are some of the specs of that, and is it running Windows 10?
I do quite a bit of computer tinkering and repair and see problematic issues with Windows 10 quite frequently. If this is related to the GDI Objects issue, it might be worth noting that I've never encountered such a thing in Windows 7, which I've used for years, and still use for superior productivity on my workstations.
