Getting the following error when trying to install SP03 for SW 2018: "Previous Hole Wizard detected. Select installation method. but Hole wizard options on the install screen are greyed out
Do you have any other versions of SolidWorks installed besids SW2018?
Yes I do, I have 2017 still installed on my machine. I can delete it and try again
If you are installing SW2018 as a separate install, you should not need to uninstall previous version.
Do you have the toolbox/hole wizard database file stored in PDM or a common network location. This may be why your options are greyed out.
However, it should not stop you from installing SW2018. Once installed you can just tell SW2018 where to look for the correct hole wizard file.
I am installing as a separate install. I am completely green with most everything to do with SolidWorks. I basically use it to convert customer supplied solid files into solidworks files so that I can import the files into my programming software.
does this database file have a generic filename that I can search for and is there somewhere in solidworks that I can check to see what the path is set to ? thanks for your patience.
Since SW2015 file name is swbrowser.sldedb and is found in SW2018 install folder SOLIDWORKS data\lang\english. On my computer, since I have 6 versions of SW installed, the data folder has a (6) in name (example: C:\SOLIDWORKS Data (6)\lang\english). Hope this helps.
I did a search for the database file. It is where you said it should be. I also checked in SW2018 under System Option to see if anything needed to be set there. Hole Wizard/Toolbox path is set to c:\solidworks data (6)\ ( I have 6 separate installs on my machine )
Gotta get back to other things right now so I may not be able to do anything more for a while. I do appreciate all your help, thanks
What is the modified date of the swbrowser.sldedb file in the SW2018 folder? Mine is 2/26/2018 (however, I am on SP2.0)
I'm running SP02 also. Modified date for swbrowser.sldedb is 3/1/2018
So you are trying to install SP3.0 over SP2.0? This should also not be a problem (at least from my experience, like you I have 5 different releases of SolidWorks on my computer at home).
that's correct. Trying to install SP03 over SP02
Have been running SP02 for a bit with no issues. also, I have never had any issues with SP updates in the past. this is a 1st for me.
2 other employees here have already updated to SP03 without any issues.
I have a similar issue, during my SP4 installation it is coming up as Holewizard detected, Select installation method. and grays out the install button.
