I can't find it in the library.
Here is a quick & dirty appearance I put together. Of course you can tweak it to your liking colors, scratches, etc....
It's close but could use a little more adjusting.
You can download the Appearance here: http://dg-digital.com/dl/Zinc-Rainbow-Passivate.zip
What version of your software is it? I'm a 2017. You send me the material file I can not use, drag and drop to the model after no changes. Can you send a screenshot of your adjusted parameters?
Have you try this, http://help.solidworks.com/2018/English/Visualize/c_sharing_appearances.htm
thank you David Goetsch for sharing your Appearance.
I've copied it into my library, renamed it to .SVAP.
I've learned a lot in defining Appearances from this!
I just added a bump map "Carpet normal" with .5 Bump Strength and be fine!
But now i'm not able to save this back to my library? With the Windows Explorer i allowed me to do this...
I had this some times before ... do you know why?
Okay, i found the answer: According to SPR 1082393 this will be the case, when the palette is undocked! Strange...
David Goetsch is there anyway you can post the link again?
When I click on the link it gives a "404 invalid" error.
Or, is there any way you can link to a tutorial on how you came up with this?
Either way, great work!
Should be working now. Link has been fixed...
You my friend are a gentleman and a scholar.
Is there any specific way this file needs to be saved?
Can I use this as a material on a regular part? or can it only be used with Visualization?
The file posted is a zipped .svap (Visualize Appearance) file.
I'll post the actual texture files is used here. You should be able to use them in Solidworks or just about any other program.
