Hello,
I have two cones. I need to pass a tangent line to both these cones, but I am unable to do it. I'v tried to use several kinds of reference geometry, 3D sketch, and even created a slender cylinder to replace the tangent line, but I couldn't insert a tangent mate between the cylinder and the cone.
I'd like the tangent to be dynamic, as I need to see how it's angle in the 3 dimensional space as the cones moves away from each other.

the two cones and the assembly are attached to the original message above. The cones sizes and angles are set and shouldn't be changed, as well as the angle between them which is 109 deg.

I need a line to be tangent to the two cones, like in the picture attached here. in the picture the line is not actually tangent but that's the idea
Here is your line:
In pinion cone I made a surface tangent to the cone (as a surface extrude). In bevel cones assembly I mate this surface tangent to gear cone. This makes pinion curve rotate around its axis. Now this planar surface is tangent to both cones. Any line on this plane with endpoints on the cones will be tangent to both cones. I made this as a simple 2D assembly sketch using the intersection tool.
