Creating a flexible limiting strap?

Question asked by Wes Inskeep on May 22, 2018

I'm trying to create a limit strap for an assembly.  The assembly moves freely along a set of linked constraints, and I am trying to create a flexible strap that will distort when compressed and straighten when extended, and also limit the travel of the assembly.

The strap is constrained by two pins, one on a fixed part of the assembly, the other on the moving part.  They are parallel and can be predictably calculated for distance.

I started by creating a "skeleton" drawing by constraining four elements that add up to the correct distance, then building a spline using the constrained endpoints for reference.  I can't seem to make that relate to the assembly though.

I am a self-taught newbie at this, so I'm starting to wade into deep water here.  I understand that "Flexible" doesn't mean what I thought it did too... which is a challenge.

Any thoughts?
