Why am I getting stress concentrations at ends of flat interface

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?  I am doing a non-linear axis symetric 2d simplification of a pipe being pressed into the bottom of a hole.  Global contacts are no penetration. The pipe has a 45 degree chamfer around the end and this chamfer is mating up with a matched 45 degree counter sink at the bottom of the hole.  The block with the hole is fixed and the pipe receives a load pushing it into the bottom of the hole. After I run the study, I don't get even contact pressure across the face of the pipe.  The plot shows a concentration of force at each end of the face where the chamfer ends. (pipe comes in from the right, countersunk hole on the left)
