For years I have been looking for a program similar to the 2D sketch portion of SolidWorks. Back in the 90s, Intergraph briefly came out with a product called Imagineer Technical. This program was a simplified version of SolidEdge sketch and it was great, but it flopped apparently.
The reason I have needed this is to aid field salesmen who are not CAD capable. Often they are required to get measurements which are scribbled onto paper and submitted to engineering. Too often incorrect or missing dimensions occur. This wastes time and money since these locales are remote. If a standalone simple sketch program was available, they could draw up the information and verify it with driving dimensions and geometry. This could then be submitted through a file or drawing.
Does anyone know if something like this exists?
