How to lock mates/parts in an assembly

Greetings to all

I'm making a range of ISO shipping container, ranging from 10 to 40 feet in length and of different height. I have started with a 40 foot container by making an assembly with the container fitting corners (see screenshot 40 ft. Container (ISO-1AA) - Screenshot 01) There is apparently a possibility to lock mates between components such as in screenshot 40 ft. Container (ISO-1AA) - Screenshot 02. I have tried it but ones I have locked the components, I can't unlock afterwards. Could someone please tell/show me the correct procedure of locking/unlocking mates/distances between parts/components in an assembly.

Please rephrase the question because I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to help but I for don't understand what you're asking.

If you can, please explain step for step what you're doing and what it is that you would like to do but seemingly can't.

Like Peter said, I didn't fully understood your issue but base don what I have understood, you can just change the distance value. Simply double click on that dimension and change to required dimension/distance value.

To Deepak and Peter, thank You kindly for Your messages. What I wish, is that after having given a distance between two parts in an assembly that have been mated (for example with coincident) that I can lock the distance (apparently seen the possibility of a lock symbol, as seen in screenshot 02, but also like the availability to lock a rotation) so that the parts will remain in place where they are and cannot accidentally be changed during the designing process. This is rather important as it will define the definite measurement of the object/assembly. But what I also have noticed, is that ones I have locked these parts, that I can't unlock them (in case I may have made a mistake or wish to save (as) the assembly for an other assembly) I hope I may have been able to put better into words my thought and intention. Thank You all for Your patients, time and help.

You can make the distances or the angles values read only. Coincident mates you can convert them as distance = 0 and read only.
