I've been trying to flat a solid part using Flatten feature in order to measure Bounding Box Area, but the solid part doesn't flat out completely after I convert it to a sheet metal. Can someone tell me where am I making mistake?
You have suppressed bends in your flat pattern. Expand your Flat-Pattern and check that. How you suppressed them is another story.
Can you post your part?
I guess things to check for is to ensure are all your steps correct, are you using features that won't allow you to flatten the part. Also look at the solidworks help function: 2018 SOLIDWORKS Help - Sheet Metal
There is a lot of good resources in there. Typically I try to always start my sheet metal parts using either Base Flange / Tab or Lofted Bend I find I usually have a lot more success when trying to flatten my parts that way, instead of using Convert to Sheet Metal.
As Peter stated, please post your part.
Thank you, Dennis. Somehow the flat pattern was suppressed. Now I'm able to flat the whole geometry.
The value of Bounding Box Area didn't change when I flatten the part. Do you know why?
The cut-list properties table supposed to updated whenever I flatten the part, right?
