Hi All,

I have a assembly in which I have 3 different weldments and 14 components. I am making a single drawing, in which I have all the components, but I only want to show a few weldment bodies (around 8 only).

Can anyone recommend a good practice to show weldments and components in a single BOM? I am currently doing so, and the BOM comes up with the list of all components and weldment bodies all together (I am using indented, flat numbering and detailed cutlist). I want to attach the balloons to only a few weldment bodies and all components. But the BOM shows everything. Thanks in advance.

You can hide/delete the rows for those components/bodies.

Without you posting at least a screenshot, I am only guessing here. Yes the BOM shows everything. So you highlight a row, right click on it, then select Hide, Row or use the shortcut and select Hide selected.

Hello,

As a followup to what Deepak Gupta and Solid Air posted, first reorder the desired parts in your BOM to be the first eight items by clicking and drag each row.
The cursor changes to a yellow wraparound arrow. Release the mouse button to move the row below the highlighted row.

If you don't reorder first, then there will be holes in the item no column as there's no renumbering with hidden rows as shown in this screen shot:

You can reodrer reorder after hiding, but for me, it tends to be easier to do it before.

  The number thing is true for Weldment Cut List tables but is not for a Bill of Materials tables and from Lakhvinder's description he is using a Bill of Materials table.

      So are you now able to get your BOM to be formatted as you want? Or are you still having an issue?

        The BOM item numbers are not in order, hidden numbers are missing (9, 10 and 11). Also, is there a way to re-order the balloons in the view (starting from top and in an anticlockwise manner).

        I have never seen (that I can recall) the missing item numbers as shown in your screen shot. Did you hide or delete rows (I recommend only hiding of rows)? As for if you can (if I understand you correctly) have your item numbers largest to smallest, I have never tried it myself. Maybe using sort functionality or there is a setting somewhere...
        
        Is it possible to upload your drawing and models to take a look at what is going on?

    I was going by memory on BOM rowing hiding/renumberubg since it's been a few years since the need for this has arisen.
    So this morning I tested it on a SW2018 sp2 BOM. I "hide selected" row 6 and the item numbers didn't adjust.
    I pressed Ctrl+Q, but still no renumbering.
    I included the BOM settings in the screen shot.
    What do I need to do to get the item numbers to reorder?

        I've attached a sample assembly (which is just a bunch of stuff). The BOM didn't renumber when I hid item #5.

        That is because you are creating what I call, for a lack of a better term, a "normal" BOM. Lakhvinder is using an Indented BOM. When you hide a row in an indented BOM, the item numbers after re-number. As you have shown, when you hide a row using either the Top-level or Parts only BOM option, the items after it do not renumber. The reason I have never seen this with a regular BOM is because, where I work, we do not make assemblies that require parts to be hidden. If a part is not to be in the BOM, it is set to be excluded from BOM. So I did learn something from this even though I was unable to help Lakhvinder.

Can you exclude your unwanted bodies from the cutlist?
I believe this is a configurable condition if is required.
