Can PDM Professional (server and clients) be 2018 while Solidworks mechanical and simulation client software is 2017 version?
Robert, I would believe that to be the case.
We are in the process of transitioning from SW Workgroup PDM to PDM Standard and have been told the same. SW2017 will run with PDM Standard (or Professional) while SW2018 will not run with Workgroup PDM.
Yes, PDM 2018 will backward compatible with SW 2017 and SW2016
and is it all the back to SW2015?
Nope, officially only support up to two versions back.
Hello Shaodun Lin, I can't find that in the official documentation. Can you help me find it? Where is it written that the support stops after two versions behind? I just got the popup warning at a customer's where they wanted to use PDM 2019 with SOLIDWORKS 2016. I need to give them the bad news but I need official backup.
Solution S-061002 in the Knowledge base.
That's exactly what I was looking for but couldn't formulate my request to get the KB to understand what I wanted to know.
I also found the answer here:
In the TECHNICAL INFORMATION section. The document titled "Multi-CAD Support Matrix (Updated DEC-21, 2018)".
The release notes are available for such questions; SOLIDWORKS Data Management 2019 SP3 Release Notes
the paragraph "Compatibility with SOLIDWORKS PDM Products".
