Sorry, I should have looked at this before I posted. This is
EXACTLY what is going on with me.
Anyone from SolidWorks reading these forums care to
respond?????
hhudson,
I found that simply running the update from your Start >
SolidWorks Installation Manager > Installation Manager will find
the update and install it. I think SolidWorks abandoned manual
installations and is looking to automate the process (although as
an old-school DL and Run user it's a bit annoying)

I had this same issue. It was the activeX settings on our
server. The IT sorted it out though and all seems fine now.

hhudson, I believe they yanked that download due to the
failed to save document error that people are getting. There was
something about a SP1.1 coming out with that fix. You would think
they would take the link down though!
Anybody else not able to access the SW2007 SP1 download? For
several days now, going through the Customer Portal, I've gone to
"Download Software and Updates" and then clicked the "SolidWorks
2007 SP1.0" link, but all it does is refresh the page. If I click
the "SolidWorks 2006 SP5.0" link it takes me right to the download
page. Utterly confused. Am I missing something here? I have SW'06
and SW'07 installed as separate installations and everything works
fine, I just can't get to the SP1 download page. I'd like to apply
the SP for evaluation to verify some of the bugs mentioned, but am
unable.
Wondering if my "dumbass" factor is kicking in!

That is the customer portal support page, just to show that
there is a choice to not use the Installation Manager. I suspect
that because you already have installed using the Installation
Manager that it is defaulting to the Installation Manager when you
try to update.
Probably need to do a complete un-install/re-install to get
rid of the Installation Manager. I think the Installation Manager
is a program in your Windows Add Or Remove Program List. If it is
may be uninstalling that will work for you. Someone else will need
to confirm that since I do not use the Installation Manager. I did
it the old fashioned way.... :-)
I'm still trying to figure out why your Installation Manager
looks like the Customer Portal on the website, but mine does not.
Even so, going through the Customer Portal I can't get to a window
that looks anything like your image, and I think I've already
navigated the entire site twice.
Anyway, when I do go through the 2007 Installation Manager to
update the files, right after it starts the download process (see
attached file), I receive the attached error message.
Updating isn't really all that big of a deal anymore, but
it's beginning to bug me that I can't get it to work. Now, it's
just becoming personal!
Thanks to all for your feedback,
Herbert

I'm getting the exact same thing, on a 2007 install that
replaced my 2006, I sent an email to my VAR - and fully expect them
to tell me to delete and reinstall or worse, tell me I have to
reinstall XP...they're so helpful
The creation of my Administrative Image was done normally,
and my local installation of SW2007 was completed through my admin
image, as I've done for years. I didn't install the "installation
manager" until I couldn't activate the SP download link through the
SW Customer Portal. So, I just have no idea what's going on since
I'm able to access any of the SW2006 SP files, but just can't seem
to get to the download window for the SW2007 SP links.
I'll let you know if I figure it out.
Thanks again to all. (My VAR is working on it, too.)
