I am attempting to add a 6mm shell to the bottom of this part. However, I am receiving an error message. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this.Cheers
I believe it is to do with Sweep1. You are creating a material thickness of 6mm already at this stage, so when it comes to shelling 6mm it is not possible.
I filled in the hollow using intersect tool for speed to demonstrate, but I would go back and change the sketch in the sweep so it is an un-hollowed solid, so the shell will work later on.
New version so I've attached parasolid.
I don't think the shell likes the 'tube' like upper lip. Is that intentional?
What you can do is use the Delete Face feature to remove the bottom face.
Then thicken the surface to 6mm
That would still give you this.
Is that what you're after?
Hi. thanks for the reply. The tube is intentional and im looking to shell that too. I am looking for a consistent 6mm thickness across the whole part. By deleting the face I am only able to thicken the bottom half. Any ideas why it dosnt like the tube? I have done this part before on a smaller tube size successfully
So you'd like a sealed tube running around the top?
I managed to get it to work by changing the original profile sketch. Thanks for your help
