vista x64 and sp2.1

hi all, i have tried on two clients to install the sp2.1 over sp2.0. both units threw errors and crashed or failed to install messages. then sw failed to open crashing on start. had to use system restore to get back working.
has anybody else seen this?
both vista x64, fx 1700 and fx 3700

Had one out of five machines fail.
But I was not doing the update, so I wasn't in control.
Uninstalled SW2009 then ran the Install Manager thru SP02.1

  yes, ended up getting a new sp2.1 like you. oh i so wish sw would test these sp's on a bunch of dialups and non cable setups. they would see how we suffer. i need a single file iso i can use with a bullet proof download manager. i hear sw dont actually write the code. is this true? that must be why they have to send out the whole lot every update. because they dont actually know what was changed. so they cant do updates like ms and acad by just sending out the new dll file. bit sad really. no wonder sw wont talk to users direct. they have no idea how it all works.
