I think you can use Workflow to achieve this, for example:
- Create a workflow for all .doc files and setup proper permissions for this workflow's states (e.g. Group 1 has no permissions to Read/Check out files on all states)
- Create another workflow for all .sldprt & .sldasm files and setup proper permissions for this workflow's states as well (e.g. Group 2 has no permissions to Read/Check out files on all states)
Thanks for the thought !
I knew this can be achieved by workflow, But what if the users does not contribute to the workflow ?
So my thought was, How easy it would be to have check box kind of thing in the Groups general permissions tab,That provide access to type of files you would like to give an access to.
I am sure it would really help people.
What say ?
- The first time a document is checked in it will be assigned a Workflow state anyway, so by using this Workflow method it would not require users to do anything, just have to make sure that files should be checked in at least once.
- You can submit an Enhancement Request to SolidWorks about this desire
Thanks for your efforts. Apprieciate it.
