I am a machined components designer, some minor sheet-metal work here and there. Never done any work with plastic modeled parts. Want to broaden my skill set.

I am working through an advanced techniques book called Solidworks 2015 Part II - Advanced Techniques by Paul Tran. If you all would look at the attached model, I wonder how I should better control Loft3. Book is not real clear. (Already learned the hard way that you have to be very careful where you pick on each sketch.) Also as I work on this part, I wonder how does one dimension a complicated surface like that? To have a mold made what do you provide to the mold maker? In my machined parts world, every detail needs to have each dimension clearly defined to have a part built. How does one dimension sweeping lofts on a drawing? Drawings are not used quite so much as the sharing of the model for casts?
