How to search folder names with PDM web2

    Scott Post

We have a relatively new PDM installation and I recently set up the web2 server.  For some reason the search tool does not seem to search within folder name.  It seems to look for the search string in the file name and custom properties, but not the folder name.  I have a bunch of PDFs from projects we did before getting PDM that I dragged into the vault so they don't have custom properties.  I really want my web users to be able to search by folder name.  Is there a way?  It would also be nice if the results list showed the folder name so if the user found something of interest then could open the folder that the file resides in and see what else is there.

          Scott,

Presently you cannot restrict a Web2 search to a particular folder or path. I have mentioned this to SOLIDWORKS but am not certain that an enhancement request was created to add this capability.

That's actually a separate issue.  My problem is I can't search for strings contained in a folder name.  For example, let's say I had a folder structure:

              C:\PDMVault\Legacy PDF Files\Projects\100000\1000050\ACME Thingamajig\

And under that folder are PDF files like, "Part1.pdf", "Part2.pdf", etc.  If my user doesn't know where to drill down to find the "ACME Thingamajig" folder I want them to be able to search using the terms "ACME", "Thingamajig", or "ACME Thingamajig".  This currently doesn't work for me.  I cannot search by strings in a folder name.
