Another good question Maha.... I wondered about that for a couple of years... No it does not make a difference. You will get the same result if you pick the top edge or the bottom edge. When you make the edge flange the base of the sketch created will be on the edge of the direction that the edge flange is going and the flange length will be whatever you Input.
