I'm VERY new to Visualize. basically I've been playing around with it since we upgraded to 2018 a few weeks ago. I'm stumbling my way around and at least have created some decent renders of our product on a plain background.
one thing I don't have a feel for though is what changing certain material values does in the render. I've selected plastic and entered the RGB numbers corresponding to our Pantone callout and the colors look pretty good. But, I know the surface finish is off. parts still look too shiny.
does anybody have a comparison or something showing what roughness value used in visualize would compare to standard Mold Tec 110XX finishes? or standard SPI mold finishes?
thanks
Hi Michael,
If you have a look at your library inside Visualize and navigate to:
Library > Cloud > SOLIDWORKS Appearances > Plastic > Textured
you'll find appearances named "pw-mt11xxx" which I assume are Mold Tech appearances.
Apparently they all seem to share the roughness value of 22.16. But there's still some difference in surface roughness between them as they don't all share the same normal map or texture density.
Normal / bump maps affect surface roughness as well.
Hope that was of any help.
