Please need help to do this swept cut usin an Surface Split trajectory, the error is because of zero thickness, but i dont understand why...
An example of when a zero thickness error happens when trying to cut at the exact end of a circle. There is such a tiny amount of space that the computer cannot calculate that. give it a tiny bit of space away or into it and it will work.
below is a picture of my sketch trying to extrude cut at the ends of the two circles. that is a zero thickness error.
It looks like the cut sketch geometry is co linear to the face of your part, try going a little past or before the surface.
oh, this is just a view cut to make me understand, not a really Surface... the real geometry is the whole ring
To re-phrase what Francisco said, Move the sketch geometry that you are cutting either away from or into the circle. NOT directly on the circle.
If you are cutting out the inner ring area, move your sketch closer to the center point
I am guessing (since you didn't share the part itself, it will remain a guess) that you are getting 0 thickness because the edge of the sweep profile is creating 0 thickness with the inside diameter of your part. Try extending the sweep profile slightly inside the inside diameter and see if you get the same issue.
O, it could be with the squiggly area making the 0 thickness as the profile meets the top of bottom surface.
