I have create a object in 3D using autocad. Can it be used to create a mold in solidworks?
You can try opening the DWG directly in SolidWorks using the settings below:
How well the conversion goes, that I can't say.
If this isn't satisfactory, you can export the DWG to a parasolid, STEP or IGES file, but this will make the part imported geometry in SolidWorks.
it works ok for me, not all parts come in as desired though
Are you sure that you have a Solid body in AutoCAD?
Run the LIST command in AutoCAD and select the geometry.
What does AutoCAD report as the geometry type?
You could also ACISOUT in AutoCAD (if it is solid bodies) and import that *.sat into SolidWorks.
Unfortunately importing DWG and DXF isn't 100% clean.
Most of the time I will start over if I have know the parameters of the part.
