After installing MS Office 2016 I have a problem with intelligent measurements in part design. Are there any problems with microsoft Office and Solid works maybe caused by an Update during office installation?
Can you give more details of what you are using.
What Office product (word, excel,...)
What version of SolidWorks.
What operating system (Windows 7, 10...)
I don't remember anyone else here reporting that. Can you describe the problem with the Smart Dimension function, maybe with a screenshot?
Hi Glenn and Rick,
Thanks for your replys.
1. I use a Windows professional 10 on Lenovo thinkpad with 24 GB Ram.
2. Office is an Microsoft Office professional 2016 License
3. The Solidworks is professional edition2017 x64 SP2
The exact problem is, that while I am drawing in a "Skizze" and I created a closed form the measurement function (intelligent measurements) is not working in the right way. normally I can mark two points or lines and the smart dimension function shows the exact data and setup a window, where I can update this length.
actually I am only able to choose 1 line of the drawing and after double klick I will get the smart window where I can do the expected things. But I am not able to get this window neither for a second line of the same drawing nor for the distance between two points or lines. Also the other measurement function are not working right.
I think, that during the installation of MS Office maybe a common tool was modified. So I a intended to do the following steps, if there is not a better idea:
1. I will update Solidworks by SP 3-5 or Version 2018 (we have an update contract)
I was looking for a maintenance function of the program, but I didn't find anything
Thanks for your help
I'm pretty sure I understand. For some reason the Smart Dimension function has stopped working. You could certainly try updating to the most recent version of SolidWorks. If that doesn't solve the problem I'd suggest contacting customer support from the company you bought SolidWorks from since you are on contract.
Could it just be this SOLIDWORKS option?
If this option is not enabled, then you are not prompted to enter a value when you create a dimension. You will only get to change the dimension when you double-click it.
